Our Work. Your Vision Realized.

Our mentoring program aims to connect volunteers and refugees, facilitating communication between them. Under the motto "Strengthening People," we help refugees become familiar with everyday German customs and prepare volunteers for their mentoring roles. Both parties receive support from us throughout this intensive period. Furthermore, both sides enter into the mentoring relationship voluntarily.

Active together

Active together

In the Mesopotamia Assyrian Sports and Culture Association Wiesbaden eV, an enormous need for support has arisen due to the increase in the number of refugees in the association. The older migrants, who often have a different time quota for volunteer work than younger volunteers, are supposed to cover the needs of the refugees with the “Active Together” project. Since the voluntary migrants in the association mostly have flight experience themselves, they are important bridge builders to the newly immigrated refugees. With the help of the project, companions of the same age are also to be found for the older refugees in order to be able to reach all age groups of the refugees through the project.

This automatically creates transparency for refugees and integration bodies regarding the wide range of integration options available. The result is integration without delay. And this is precisely where the ZAVD’s unique ‘Gut reinkommen – Integration without Barriers’ project comes into play.

The “GeT AKTIV – Empowering Refugees to Participate in Politics and Society” project runs seminars on intercultural and political education for refugees at various locations across four federal states. The content and methods used deepen participants’ knowledge and understanding of democratic structures, as well as democratic thinking and action. Building on the prior knowledge gained from integration courses, the project offers participants the opportunity to develop a comprehensive understanding of German society through guidance and dialogue.
